Staples bids for Corporate Express
US office supplies group Staples has made a €2.5bn bid for Dutch peer Corporate Express, formerly Buhrmann.
Staples is offering €7.50 a share for Corporate Express. Corporate Express shares rose up to 40% on the news. By press time there was no comment from the Dutch company.
Corporate Express, listed on Amsterdam’s AEX, has been under pressure from hedge funds to put itself up for sale after losses in its key US market.
