Queen Beatrix is moving with the times and is ‘slowly but surely’ not pronouncing the letter r at the end of certain words such as maar (but) and weer (weather).
This is the conclusion of language expert Marc van Oostendorp who has studied the queen’s speeches over the last 25 years with the help of a computer analysis.
His findings are published in the latest edition of the language magazine Onze Taal.
