Politicians are scruffy, says longest-serving MP
Dutch MPs are sometimes extremely scruffy and look as if they have come to parliament straight from a campsite, says MP Bas van der Vlies, dark-suited leader of the fundamentalist Christian party SGP, in the Historisch Nieuwsblad.
Van der Vlies, first elected in 1981, is the Netherlands’ longest sitting MP.
