The policeman who shot dead another man in the Utrecht neighbourhood of Ondiep in March 2007 acted in self-defence and will not face charges, the public prosecution department said on Tuesday.

The incident triggered several days of rioting in the area.
The man was threatening the officer with a knife and refused to drop the weapon, the public prosecution department said.
