Minister is pro and against wind turbines

Minister Jaqueline Cramer seems to be caught in a conflict of interests over on-shore wind parks, reports Monday’s Volkskrant.

As environment minister she is actively pushing for more – and bigger – wind turbines to meet the government’s target of 20% renewable energy by 2020.
However, Cramer is also responsible for urban planning and in this role she has ruled against four large turbines along the A12 motorway near Utrecht.
Although these would generate electricity for over 5,000 households and save 10,000 tons of harmful carbon dioxide emissions, Cramer has decided the turbines would damage the landscape, says the Volkskrant.
