Deloitte sued over Ahold scandal
Shareholders group Sobi is taking legal action against accountancy group Deloitte and four former board members at supermarket group Ahold for their role in the US book-keeping scandal, reports news agency ANP.
Deloitte and the former managers are accused of ‘distributing misleading information about Ahold’s financial position’ between 2000 and 2002.
The accounting fraud at Ahold’s US Foodservice division caused the share price to slide sharply when it was discovered in 2003.
Sobi currently represents 500 Ahold investors and is suing for compensation of some €30m.
