Amnesty campaign refugees miss out

The Syrian family whose situation sparked the nationwide campaign for an amnesty for long-term refugees do not qualify for the amnesty themselves, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday.


The family, who came to the Netherlands 16 years ago and have three children all born here, also applied for refugee status in Germany and that means they fall outside the amnesty procedure, the paper says.
