American ambassador departs early

The American ambassador to the Netherlands, Roland Arnall, is leaving his post early because his son Daniel is seriously ill, reports Friday’s Volkskrant.


Arnall, who will return to the US in March, was appointed in 2006 by president Bush. He was a controversial choice because of his links with sub-prime lender Ameriquest.
