To much spent on aid, says poll

Almost 60% of the population feel the Dutch government spends too much on aid for developing countries, according to a poll by Onze Wereld magazine.

The Netherlands gives 0.7% (€4bn) of its gross national income to development aid.
Some 75% of those questioned said they are irritated by charities’ money-raising campaigns. Small organisations are considered more trustworthy (43%) than the established larger ones (13%), according to the survey.
