Suspected terrorists to be released

The three suspected terrorists arrested in Rotterdam on New Year’s Eve are to be released on Thursday, said the court in Rotterdam on Wednesday evening.

The public prosecution said it will appeal the release of the two men with dual Dutch-Moroccan nationality, reports ANP news service. The third suspect is Sudanese.
The investigation into the case will continue and the three men will remain suspects, a spokesman for the public prosecution department said.
The men were arrested following a tip-off from the intelligence service (AIVD) that they were planning an attack.
Although no explosives were found in the men’s homes, the justice department said one of the suspects was trying to obtain explosives.
The public prosecution said it would not release any information about the motive or target of the alleged attack.
According to media speculation at the time, the men were planning to blow up the city’s Erasmus bridge during the New Year celebrations.
