Russian oil shipments up eight-fold

The volume of Russian natural oil and oil products shipped to the Netherlands rose eight-fold between 2000 and 2006 to 35 million tons, said the national statistics office CBS on Wednesday.

This makes Russia the biggest supplier to the Netherlands, good for almost 25% of the total oil and oil products shipped to the country, said the CBS. Egypt is second with 17% while Britain and Norway each shipped 12%.
The total volume of goods shipped through Dutch ports went up in the same period by over 80 million tons, said the CBS.
In 2006, 505 million tons of cargo were loaded and off-loaded at sea ports in the Netherlands according to the new CBS figures.
Together Russia, Britain and Norway shipped 30% of all the goods delivered to Dutch sea ports in 2006.
