Some 20 schools went up in flames during the New Year celebrations, insurance company Centraal Beheer Achmea said on Friday.
The company said the cost of the damage caused could be as high as €25m.
A spokesman said schools must do more to reduce the risk of fires by, for example, installing cameras and sprinkler systems.
In 2006, seven schools were damaged as a result of fires caused by fireworks.
