Minister rejects advice on free text-books

The Council of State, the country’s highest judicial body, is not in favour of proposed legislation to make secondary school text-books free.

But junior education minister van Bijsterveldt has dismissed the advice. ‘The Council has no influence on the priorities within our policy,’ she was reported as saying. ‘MPs have given the new law its full support.’
