Heineken, Carlsburg start talks with S&N

UK brewer Scottish & Newcastle said on Thursday it has ‘entered into discussions’ with Heineken and Carlsburg following the Dutch-Danish consortium’s increased offer.

Heineken and Carlsburg increased their bid for S&N yesterday to 800 pence a share in cash.
The higher bid values the British company at €13.7bn, the Financieele Dagblad said.
The last 20 pence of the bid will be paid by Carlsburg, bringing its stake in the project to 55.7%, the paper reported.
Heineken gained 3.9% in trading on Thursday while Carlsburg fell 3.7%.
