Fewer deaths than expected
The death rate fell by 2.6% last year, against statisticians’ expectations, AD reports on Friday.
Statistician Jan Latten told the paper that warmer weather and the absence of a flu epidemic contributed to the decline.
The national statistics office CBS had forecast a rise in the death rate last year.
