EU to demand more green energy: FD

The Netherlands must generate 14% of its electricity from renewable sources before 2020, according to a confidential report by the European Commission, reports Thursday’s Financieele Dagblad.

At present 2.4% of Dutch power production is made using sustainable sources.
The new proposals will require all EU members to increase green power production by over 10 percentage points, says the paper.
The plans follow the 20% target set by EU leaders last year, says the paper. Currently only 8.5% of EU energy is green.
