2007 inflation ‘very low’

Dutch inflation was 1.6% in 2007, slightly up on 2006 but still ‘very low’ compared with other European countries, national statistics office CBS said on Monday. The EU average was 2.1%.


‘It is the fourth consecutive year that prices rose less than 2%, the CBS said.
Electronic equipment, such as computers and televisions, was on average 12% cheaper last year. Energy costs, bread and dairy products booked among the biggest price increases.
