Teachers against free text-books

Some 44% of teachers oppose the idea of giving schools a budget to buy text-books, according to a survey for educational publisher GEU.

Only 37% of teachers back the plan due to be introduced in the next academic year.
Teachers say school managers will look at cost rather than quality when buying new books, the AD reports on Thursday.
At present parents are financially responsible for text-books.
