A 19-year-old student in the southern province of Brabant died of tuberculosis on Sunday after being hospitalised last week. The news was made public by her school on Monday evening.

In a preventative measure, the regional health authority (GGD) is carrying out test among the girl’s classmates, family and friends, reports ANP news service.
Around 1,400 people contract TB each year in the Netherlands, but it is very unusual for someone to die from the bacterial disease, ANP said.
