PSV topple Ajax from top of premier league
PSV Eindhoven knocked Ajax off the top of the Dutch football premier league on Sunday with a convincing 4-1 victory against FC Utrecht.
The Amsterdam team failed miserably against Excelsior, losing 2-1 to the lowly-placed Rotterdam club. It was Ajax’s first defeat by Excelsior in the club’s history.
Feyenoord also capitalised on Ajax’s slip-up, beating NEC of Breda 2-1.
The victory means the Rotterdam club has moved to second place in the league, one point behind PSV. Ajax are third, two points behind the leader.
