Police industrial action spreads
Major police union Nederlandse Politiebond is set to join the ongoing police industrial action in support of a higher pay claim, reports Trouw on Wednesday.
The NPB was not involved in last weekend’s strike which led to the cancellation of two premier division football matches.
From today, the NPB will not fine people for minor infringements, such as cycling through red lights or over the pavement. And on Friday, its members will issue Christmas greetings instead of fines, Trouw said.
The NPB and the other main union ACP both say the government’s offer of 5.75% spread over two years is unacceptable. The ACP wants a flat €200 per month rise for all police officers, the NPB wants a 7% rise over two years.
