Motoring body in action against traffic fines

Motoring organisation ANWB is campaigning against cabinet plans to increase the size of traffic fines by 20% from next April.

The increase is partly to help pay for free school books in secondary schools. ‘Traffic fines should be about reducing speed not raising money,’ the ANWB says in Monday’s Telegraaf.
Some 71% of the 10 million speeding tickets handed out this year were for travelling up to 10kph more than the legal speed.
