Health insurers to take chemists to court

Health insurers are to take the dispensing chemists umbrella organisation KNMP to court for damaging their reputation, reports ANP news service.

The insurers say the public campaign launched by the KNMP on Monday damages their reputation by spreading misleading information and are demanding rectification.
The chemists claim that some health insurers such as Menzis, CZ and Agis are meddling in the healthcare of patients by refusing to pay for certain brands of medicine from January.
On Tuesday evening health minister Ab Klink told MPs there is nothing wrong with health insurers only paying for cheaper generic drugs when these have the same active ingredients as the more expensive brands.
