Government boosts open source software
The use of open or free source software such as Modzilla Firefox is to be stimulated at all government departments from April next year, the economic affairs ministry said on Thursday.
While organisations will still be able to use branded software, they will have to justify its use, a spokesman told news agency AP.
Ministers believe the use of open source software will cut admin costs and reduce dependence on single suppliers such as Microsoft.
