Dutch businessman knighted in UK
The Dutch CEO of British telecom firm BT, Ben Verwaayen, has been knighted by Britain’s queen Elizabeth.
He will be awarded the title of Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the traditional New Year’s honours list.
On the company’s website, Sir Ben said: ‘This is a fantastic tribute to everyone who has worked so hard to transform BT into a communication services company with a global reach and a bright future. I am extremely proud of what the team has achieved, and very excited about the opportunities that still lie ahead.’
