Campina, Friesland Foods to merge
Dairy cooperatives Campina and Friesland Foods plan to merge to create an organisation with combined turnover of some €8.3bn a year, the two companies said on Wednesday.
The companies say a merged combine would allow them to strengthen their position and product range in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Some 17,000 dairy farms in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium are members of the two co-ops, responsible for producing 9.7 billion kgs of milk a year.
More details will be made public later today.
