Space shortage looms for sport

A shortage of space could be a major problem for sport in the Netherlands, according to a survey commissioned by the Dutch Sport Federation, reports Friday’s Volkskrant.

The survey concludes that there will be a 9,000 hectare shortage of playing fields by 2020 if the expected growth in demand of around 9% takes place. An extra 425 sports halls will also be needed.
