Siemens consortium plans magnetic train service

Siemens, ABN Amro and building firms Ballast Nedam and Bam have formed a consortium, Transrapid Nederland, to press for the development of a magnetic train service between Schiphol airport, Amsterdam and Lelystad.

The €2.2bn project would be completely self-financing, the consortium says.
Two other attempts to develop magnetic train services in the Netherlands have been shelved.
