Santander sells ABN Amro’s Antonveneta
Antonveneta, the Italian bank bought by ABN Amro for €7.5bn after a long struggle in 2005, has been sold on by its new owner Santander for €9bn.
Santander is one of three banks which have bought the ABN Amro group and are now carving it up. Antoveneta’s new owner is Monte dei Paschi, the oldest bank in the world.
