No cause found for pet shop illnesses

Drenthe police said on Wednesday they had found no evidence to suggest the mysterious illness which led to 26 people being hospitalised after visiting a Hoogeveen pet shop last week had been caused deliberately.

No traces of poison or any other chemical have been found and tests on the dead crocodile which preceded the scare failed to find a cause of death.
No-one has yet formally suggested the outbreak could have been caused by mass hysteria.
