No big bang for travel smart card
The introduction of a new smart card to replace all train, bus and tram tickets from 2009 will not now happen in one big bang, junior transport minister Tineke Huizinga told MPs on Wednesday evening.
Up to 26 of the country’s 62 transport regions will not be ready for the new system, the minister said.
There are also doubts about Dutch Rail’s readiness to scrap paper tickets by the deadline.
