New probe in Lucia de B murder case
Senior legal officials are to carry out a new investigation into the death of a baby girl, said to be the first victim of nurse Lucia de B, who was found guilty last year of seven murders.
The conviction was based largely on statistical evidence and has been heavily criticised by experts. Three internationally renowned toxicologists will carry out the new research.
However, justice department officials said last month’s critical report on the trial does not provide enough grounds to reopen the entire case.
The death of the baby triggered off the investigation.
