Fifa ‘not opposed’ to Dutch World Cup bid
Fifa chairman Sepp Blatter is not adverse to plans by the Netherlands and Belgium to stage the 2018 football World Cup, news agency ANP reports.
Blatter had lunch with the chairmen of the Dutch and Belgian football bodies in Zurich on Wednesday.
‘Blatter said we were the first interested party to personally approach them,’ said Dutch football association chairman Jeu Sprengers.
Australia, China, England, Mexico and Russia are all reportedly interested in staging the 2018 event. The Netherlands and Belgium co-hosted the 2000 European Cup.
