Emigration falls for first time in 8 years
In the first nine months of this year, 6,000 Bulgarians and Romanians came to live in Holland, as did 7,000 Poles, a sharp increase on 2006, says national statistics office CBS.
By contrast, immigration by Turks and Moroccans has gone down 60% since 2003.
In total the population of the Netherlands increased by 34,000 to 16.4 million. The number of people leaving the Netherlands has gone down for the first time since 1999, the CBS said.
Over the first nine months, 92,000 people emigrated, compared with 100,000 in the year earlier period.
