Tax office tops complaints list

The national ombudsman has received 1,424 complaints about the tax office in the first nine months of this year, making it the most common complaint he has to deal with, reports the AD on Wednesday.

Nevertheless, the figure is down on the 3,300 complaints made in 2006 as a whole.
Ombudsman Alex Brenninkmeijer told the newspaper that the drop in complaints did not mean the patient was cured, but that the tax office is ‘a patient with a high temperature’.
