New car safety belt is Best Idea
Cees Stam won the Best Idea of the Netherlands competition on Saturday evening with a car safety belt that opens automatically on contact with water, thus reducing the chance of drowning.
His prize is €25,000 and a production contract.
The competition was run by commercial tv station SBS and attracted 2,500 entries with 40 being presented during four live shows.
