Hundreds of millions extra for green power

Hundreds of millions of euros in extra cash will be available for green power subsidies, reports ANP news service on Tuesday.

Economic affairs minister Maria van de Hoeven told parliament on Monday evening that she has made an agreement with the finance minister under which an additional €300m to €350m a year will be available for the production of renewable power from 2012.
Initially only €14m was available for the so-called SDE subsidy next year, rising to €160m by 2011. But funds freed up from the old green power subsidy (MEP) suspended last year have now become available, Van der Hoeven told MPs.
The cabinet wants sustainable energy to account for 20% of total production by 2020.
