The Dutch trainer of the national Russian football team, Guus Hiddink, is to extend his contract up to and including the world championships in 2010, reports ANP news service.
Hiddink (60) has been with the Russian team for a year. ‘I am happy with my work for the Russian national team. Staying here is the right decision,’ he told ANP.
Hiddink admitted he had had informal talks with Chelsea in the past weeks but added that there had been no discussion about the possibility of a job with the London club.
