Compulsory redundancies halved

The number of permits to sack staff handled by the CWI unemployment offices reached 14,000 in the first six months of this year, compared with 27,000 in the year earlier period.


The number of redundancy permits granted by the courts are also down, from 16,000 in the first three months of 2006 to 9,000 in the first quarter this year.
