ABN Amro CEO to get €26m golden handshake

The departing CEO of ABN Amro, Rijkman Groenink, is to get a golden handshake of €26m following the takeover of the biggest Dutch banking group, reports today’s Volkskrant.

Groenink, who has been at ABN Amro since 1974, announced his resignation on Wednesday. He would have received €14m if the rival bid by Britain’s Barclays bank – which he himself had backed – had been successful.
