Unions threaten action over Stork split

The FNV and CNV engineering unions say they will take industrial action over the threatened split-up of industrial group Stork now the company appears to have softened its opposition to the idea.

At the beginning of this week, UK investment house Candover dropped its planned takeover of the company because enough shares were not tendered.
Candover had pledged to keep Stork’s three divisions intact, but the company is now being stalked by Icelandic group Marel, which wants the food services unit.
‘Now we are being confronted with a new reality, [a split up] is a possibility,’ a Stork spokesman said after the Candover pull-out.
The unions have given Stork management until Friday to change its position and agree to keep Stork intact.
