Minister bans livestock transport
Dutch agriculture minister Gerda Verburg has again banned the transport of livestock after a case of foot-and-mouth disease was discovered in England on Wednesday, ANP news service reports.
The last ban on moving livestock in the Netherlands was taken as a precautionary step in early August but no cases of foot-and-mouth were reported.
The new British foot-and-mouth case was found less than 24 hours after EU experts declared Britain free of the disease.
