Lower vat on environment-friendly goods
The cabinet wants environment-friendly goods and services to fall under a lower European vat (btw) tariff, reports ANP news service.
The European Commission wants to simplify vat tariffs into a uniform system. But in a letter to parliament junior European affairs minister Frans Timmermans argues that member countries should be able to decide which goods and services are eligible for the lower tariff.
He also wants a lower vat tariff for labour-intensive services such as hairdressing and bicycle repairs as well as an appraisal on vat taxes on school books and the higher tariff on CD-ROMs containing educational material.
