London football club Chelsea has denied it is trying to recruit Dutch national coach Marco van Basten to replace its departing trainer José Mourinho.

Chelsea says Mourinho’s job has only been offered to Avram Grant. Speculation has been growing that the Dutch coach might be a new cadidate after a picture was published showing Van Basten standing behind club owner Roman Abramovich at a recent match.
