Nuon turnover down 7% in Q2

Holland’s second biggest energy concern Nuon has reported a 7% fall in turnover to €1.13bn during the second quarter as a result of warm weather. The company booked a 52% fall in net profit to €168m in the April to June period.

This decrease is due largely to one-off windfalls in 2006, said Nuon. Net profit excluding incidental items was up 26% to €175m, it said.
Nuon reduced the price for electricity by 3.5% and 8.6% for gas from 1 July 2007.
Nuon said it has lost around 1% of its Dutch market share in the second quarter.
Outside the Netherlands, Nuon added 14,000 new customers in Belgium and 70,000 new customers in Germany in the first half of 2007.
