KLM to increase fuel surcharge

Dutch airline KLM is to raise its fuel surcharge by €5 on intercontinental flights and €1 on European routes as from Wednesday.

KLM said it is being forced to increase the levy because of higher fuel costs. The fuel surcharge will now be €70 on intercontinental tickets and €25 for European destinations.
Earlier on Tuesday, Air France-KLM announced a 4.6% increase in passengers in July compared with the same month last year. Some 7.2 million people flew with Air France-KLM last month. The occupancy level on planes rose by one percentage point to 86.2%.
