Integration course shake-up planned

Integration minister Ella Vogelaar is planning to introduce radical reforms to the previous government’s policy on compulsory integration courses for immigrants, NOS Teletext reports on Wednesday.

Vogelaar is said to believe that it is only worthwhile forcing people to learn Dutch if they are actually going to use the language for a job or voluntary work.
Around half of the people sent on the courses fail to achieve government-agreed standards, Teletext said.
