Gambling expansion ‘ok’ says minister
A careful expansion of the Dutch state’s gambling monopoly is necessary to maintain government policy, justice ministry Ernst Hirsch Ballin told MPs on Wednesday evening.
The minister was responding to a highly critical letter from EU internal markets commissioner Charlie McCreevy. McCreevy is considering taking the Netherlands to court for its refusal to allow foreign firms to access the Dutch casino and lottery market.
