Dutch soldiers shoot dead Afghan driver

Dutch solders on Wednesday shot dead an Afghan minibus driver after he refused to stop several times, close to their base in southern Afghanistan.

A Dutch convoy was returning to its base after patrol when a number of civilian vehicles came from the opposite direction. While the lead car stopped, the minibus drove on, ignoring warning shots.
A defence ministry spokesman said the soldiers had followed proper procedure to avoid suicide attacks.
