Former minister lured to university job

Maastricht University lured former education minister Jo Ritzen to be its new chairman four years ago with a golden handcuff package worth over €250,000, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The paper says the university was also prepared to pay Ritzen’s housing costs for two years. Universities are currently under fire from current education minister Ronald Plasterk for breaking government guidelines on public sector pay.
